Gas Safe registered 25 years in the trade 12 years running the business
Serving Swansea from Briton Ferry
Our base is in Briton Ferry, on the eastern side of Swansea Bay, so the city sits comfortably inside our roughly 30-mile working radius. Chris has spent 25 years in the trade and the last 12 running his own business, and he still does the work himself, with his son, a second-year apprentice, working alongside him.
Swansea homeowners tend to call us for planned jobs where they want the same person from the first visit to the final check: a new boiler, a bathroom refit, a yearly service or a heating problem that has been dragging on. For anything urgent, see our emergency plumber page and ring us — we'll tell you honestly whether we can get there.
Swansea's housing and what it means for your heating
Swansea has a real mix of homes. Streets of Victorian and Edwardian terraces fill areas such as Uplands, Sketty and Mount Pleasant, often with high ceilings, solid walls and bay windows. Further out there are large post-war estates, and newer developments on the edges of the city and around the waterfront.
Each brings its own quirks. Older terraces were never designed with a boiler in mind, so it may sit in a kitchen cupboard, a back bedroom or even the loft, and the pipework has often been altered more than once. Post-war houses frequently still have a tank in the loft and a cylinder in the airing cupboard. Newer homes usually have a combi or system boiler from the start, but the controls are not always set up as well as they could be.
Boiler replacement in older terraced homes
Replacing a boiler in a Victorian or Edwardian terrace takes a bit more thought than in a modern semi. The first question is the flue: modern boilers have strict rules on how close the flue terminal can be to windows, doors, gutters and the neighbour's boundary, and on a narrow terrace the old position may not be allowed any more.
Space is the next. A combi can free up an airing cupboard, but it must suit the household's hot water use and the incoming mains pressure. Then there is the condensate pipe, which needs a sensible route to a drain; long external runs on exposed walls can freeze in a hard winter. Chris looks at all of this on the survey, explains the options and puts it in a fixed quote. Our boiler installation page and new boiler cost guide go into more detail.
What Swansea homeowners search for most
Looking at what people in Swansea search for, the most common needs are a general plumber, a boiler service, bathroom fitters, boiler installation, boiler repair and a gas engineer. We cover all of those:
Boiler servicing — a yearly check to keep the boiler safe and the warranty valid
Bathrooms in older Swansea terraces are often small, sometimes built into what was once a box room or a rear extension. That makes the position of the toilet waste and the route to the soil stack the deciding factor in any layout change. We plan the first fix carefully so pipework is hidden neatly, and check that your hot water can keep up with the shower you have chosen.

Do you cover the whole of Swansea?+
We cover Swansea and its suburbs within our roughly 30-mile radius of Briton Ferry. Ring with your postcode if you're unsure.

My terrace has a tank in the loft. Can I go combi?+
Often, yes, if your mains pressure and hot water use suit it. The survey confirms this before you commit.
Do you fit bathrooms in Swansea?+
Yes. We handle the plumbing and installation, and we'll tell you which other trades your project needs.
Can you do landlord gas safety checks in Swansea?+
Yes. We carry out landlord gas safety checks and provide the record for the property.
