Why a yearly service is worth it
A gas boiler burns fuel inside your home, so the first reason to have it serviced is safety. A service checks that it is burning cleanly, that the flue is carrying fumes safely outside and that the safety devices react the way they should. It is also the moment small problems get spotted, such as a weeping joint, a blocked condensate trap or a part starting to wear, before they turn into a cold house in January.
A boiler that has been looked after also tends to run more efficiently, because a clean heat exchanger and properly set burner waste less gas. Most manufacturers recommend a service once a year. If you would like to know what makes one service quicker or slower than another, our boiler service cost guide explains it without guesswork.
What Chris checks during a service
Chris has 25 years in the trade and is Gas Safe registered. A service starts with a conversation: how has the boiler been behaving, have you noticed any noises, and is the pressure holding? He then looks over the boiler, the flue and the area around it before removing the casing to inspect the inside.
The main working parts are checked and cleaned where needed, the condensate trap is looked at, and the boiler is tested while it runs, including the gas pressure and the flue gases. Once it is back together, he checks that the controls are working and that the system pressure is where it should be. You get a plain explanation of anything he found and his advice on whether it needs dealing with now or can wait.

You do not have to wait for the anniversary of the last service if the boiler is telling you something. Ring us if you notice any of the following:
We are a family-run firm based at 65 Church Street in Briton Ferry, and Swansea is well within our roughly 30-mile radius. Because we are travelling in, we book Swansea services in advance and try to group visits on the same day where we can, which helps us offer you a sensible appointment.
Our hours are Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm and Saturday 8am to 6pm, so an early evening or Saturday slot is often possible if you work during the day. When you call or WhatsApp, have the make and model of your boiler to hand and roughly when it was last serviced. For more about the other work we do in the city, see our plumber in Swansea page, or head to the main boiler servicing page.
When a service finds a bigger problem
Sometimes a service shows that a part has failed or is about to. In that case Chris will explain what he has found, what it would take to put right and whether he can do it there and then or needs to return with the part. Nothing extra goes ahead without your agreement. Our boiler repairs page covers how we approach fault-finding.
If the boiler is old, has been unreliable for a while or needs an expensive part, Chris will give you an honest view on whether it is worth repairing or whether replacing it makes more sense. If you decide on a new one, our boiler installation in Swansea page explains how that works.

Common questions
Boiler Servicing in Swansea FAQs
Clear answers before you arrange a visit.
How often should a boiler be serviced?+
Once a year is what most manufacturers recommend, and it is the simplest routine to keep to. Booking before the colder months is sensible.
How long does a boiler service take?+
A straightforward service usually takes around an hour. A boiler in a tight cupboard or one that has gone several years without a service can take longer.
Do you service all makes of gas boiler?+
We service a wide range of gas boilers. Tell Chris the make and model when you book and he will confirm before the visit.
Can you do a gas safety certificate at the same visit?+
Yes, landlords often book both together. They are separate checks, and our gas safety certificates page explains the difference.
What days can you come out in Swansea?+
We work Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm and Saturday 8am to 6pm. Swansea services are booked in advance, so call or WhatsApp to arrange a slot.
