When the boiler starts misbehaving, you want someone who finds the actual fault and tells you plainly what it will take to put right. That is how Chris works.

Faults worth booking in
Some boiler problems announce themselves loudly and others creep up over weeks. Both are worth a phone call. The ones we hear about most from Swansea households are a boiler that keeps locking out and needs resetting, pressure on the gauge that drifts down between top-ups, hot water that only ever gets lukewarm, and new noises such as banging, gurgling or a high whistle when the burner fires.
Error codes on the display are useful too. Write the code down, or take a photo, before you reset anything. It gives Chris a head start, although a code points to an area of the boiler rather than a single broken part.

Finding the fault before touching anything
Chris is Gas Safe registered, with 25 years in the trade and 12 of them running C Gill Plumbing & Heating. On a repair visit he starts by listening to how the problem shows up for you, then tests the boiler and the controls in a logical order rather than swapping parts and hoping. His son, a second-year apprentice, often works alongside him.
Once the cause is clear, you get the options explained in normal language: what has failed, what the repair involves and what it will cost. Nothing goes ahead until you are happy with that. If a pressure problem is behind it, our boiler losing pressure guide is a good read while you wait for the visit.
Repair or replace an older boiler?
Plenty of older boilers are well worth fixing, and Chris will say so when that is the case. Age on its own is not the deciding factor. What matters more is how often it has broken down lately, whether parts are still easy to get and whether the same faults keep coming back.
If a boiler has reached the point where money spent on it is unlikely to last, you will hear that honestly, along with the reasons. Our guide on how long a boiler lasts covers the warning signs, and if replacement does make more sense we handle boiler installation in Swansea as our main line of work.
Covering Swansea from Briton Ferry
We are based at 65 Church Street, Briton Ferry, and Swansea is a short hop along the bay from us. Repair visits are arranged by phone: call or WhatsApp 07429 632804, describe what the boiler is doing and give us your postcode, and Chris will tell you when he can get to you.
We work Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm and Saturday 8am to 6pm. For a wider look at the faults we deal with across all our areas, see the main boiler repairs page.
Keeping it running with a yearly service
A good share of breakdowns start as small problems a service would have caught: a weak part, a partly blocked condensate trap or a pressure issue that has been building. Once your boiler is repaired, it is worth booking it in each year. We look after customers across the city through our boiler service in Swansea, so the same engineer gets to know your system.
Lost all heating or hot water?
If the boiler has stopped completely, call 07429 632804 and Chris will tell you honestly whether and when he can attend. Our emergency boiler repair page explains what to check in the meantime. If you can smell gas, leave the boiler alone and ring the National Gas Emergency number on 0800 111 999 first.
Getting in touch
Phone, WhatsApp or the quote form on our contact page all reach Chris directly. A photo of the boiler, its make and model, and a note of any code on the screen help him prepare before he sets off.
Common questions
Boiler Repair in Swansea FAQs
Clear answers before you arrange a visit.
What information helps before you come out to a boiler in Swansea?+
Your postcode, the make and model of the boiler, any error code shown and a short description of what it is doing. A photo of the display and the pressure gauge is handy too.
Is it worth repairing a boiler that is more than ten years old?+
Often, yes. Chris looks at how reliable it has been, whether parts are available and what the fault is, then gives you an honest view on repairing it or replacing it.
Can you repair a boiler someone else installed?+
Yes. Who fitted the boiler makes no difference. Chris works on boilers across Swansea whoever originally installed them.
Will you tell me the cost before carrying out the repair?+
Yes. Chris finds the fault first, explains the repair and gives you the cost, and the work only goes ahead once you agree.
Do you cover all of Swansea for repairs?+
Swansea sits well inside our roughly 30-mile radius from Briton Ferry. Send your postcode when you call and we will confirm.
