Radiator installation
Swapping a tired radiator for a new one, adding a radiator to a converted loft or moving one to make room for a kitchen are some of the most common heating jobs we do. The size of the radiator matters: it needs to put enough heat into the room on a cold day, which depends on the room's size, windows and outside walls rather than just matching the old one.
We fit new valves at the same time where it makes sense, including thermostatic radiator valves so each room can be set separately. Towel rails in bathrooms are handled the same way, and can be linked to our bathroom installations work.
Central heating installation
Some homes need more than a single radiator. Older systems with undersized pipework, a house that has been extended without the heating being rethought, or a property still relying on storage heaters or a gas fire may be better served by new or reworked central heating.
A central heating installation is planned room by room: where radiators go, how the pipework will run with the least disruption to floors, and which boiler and controls will drive it. It pairs naturally with boiler installation, and the survey and quote are free.
Solving uneven or unreliable heating
Cold spots, slow warm-up times and noisy radiators may point to circulation, control or component issues. A proper inspection helps identify the cause rather than treating only the symptom. If one radiator is cold at the top or bottom, our guide to cold radiators explains what each pattern usually means.
Controls that suit how you live
A programmer that nobody understands wastes gas. We can fit room thermostats, programmable or smart controls and radiator valves, then show you how to set them for your routine rather than leaving the instructions in a drawer.
Advice without unnecessary extras
Every home is different. We explain what work is needed, what is optional and what may improve efficiency, so you can decide with confidence. We cover Briton Ferry and the wider area — see our Swansea plumber page for a flavour of the older homes we often work on.
Working around your home
Heating work often means lifting carpets or floorboards. We plan pipe routes to keep that to a minimum, protect floors and furniture while we work, and make sure radiators are refilled, bled and tested before we leave.
Common questions
Central Heating FAQs
Clear answers before you arrange a visit.
Can you replace individual radiators?+
Yes. We can assess and replace individual radiators or help plan a wider upgrade.
Why are some radiators colder than others?+
Possible causes include trapped air, balancing issues, restricted circulation or a component fault. An inspection is the safest way to identify the cause.
Do you install heating controls?+
Yes. We can discuss suitable heating-control improvements as part of wider central heating work.
Can you move a radiator to another wall?+
Usually, yes. It means new pipework to the new position, and we will explain whether floorboards need lifting before you decide.
Is a system clean worth it?+
Where the water is dirty and radiators are cold at the bottom, cleaning the system and fitting a magnetic filter can help the heating run more evenly.
