Plan before work begins
Good preparation avoids surprises. We discuss the layout, products, access and related trades before confirming the scope, so responsibilities are clear from the start.
The most important early decisions are where the toilet waste will go, whether the shower will be over the bath or in its own enclosure, and how the water will reach it. Moving a toilet across the room is very different from keeping it where it is, because the waste pipe needs the right fall to the soil stack. We look at these points on the visit so the quote reflects your actual room.
First fix and second fix
Bathroom plumbing happens in two stages. First fix is everything that disappears behind walls and floors: new supply pipes, wastes and any valves for a concealed shower. This is done before plastering, boarding or tiling, so the positions need to be agreed beforehand.
Second fix comes once walls and floors are finished. That is when the basin, toilet, bath, shower and taps are connected, sealed and tested. Separating the stages properly means your tiler or plasterer can work around the pipework rather than over it.
Showers and hot water capacity
A powerful shower is only as good as the system behind it. A combi boiler delivers a set flow of hot water, a cylinder stores a fixed amount, and a gravity-fed system depends on how high the tank sits. If you are adding a second shower or a large bath, we check that the hot water supply can keep up.
Sometimes the right answer is a different shower type, and sometimes it is an upgrade to the boiler. Our boiler installation page explains how boiler type affects hot water, and central heating covers towel rails and radiators.
A tidy, respectful service
Bathroom work happens in a busy part of the home. We work carefully, protect the surrounding area and keep you informed as the job progresses. We will tell you how long you will be without a working toilet or shower, and plan the work to keep that short.
Bathroom fitters near you
We take on bathroom work across Neath, Port Talbot and Swansea from our Briton Ferry base. Swansea's older terraces often have small bathrooms with awkward waste runs — see our Swansea plumber page — while Bridgend projects are usually booked as planned work.
Common questions
Bathroom Installation FAQs
Clear answers before you arrange a visit.
Do you fit complete bathrooms?+
We provide bathroom installation and plumbing work. Contact us with your plans and we will confirm the scope and any other trades required.
Can you alter the bathroom layout?+
Often, yes. Feasibility depends on drainage, pipework and the room itself, so a visit is usually needed before quoting.
Can you replace a shower or bath?+
Yes. Send photos and a brief description of the existing setup to start the conversation.
Should I buy the bathroom suite myself?+
You can. Let us know the products before ordering so we can check they suit your water pressure and the room.
Will my combi boiler cope with a new shower?+
It depends on the boiler's hot water flow and your mains pressure. We check this during the visit before you choose a shower.
