Baxi Boiler Installation

Baxi has been making boilers in Britain for generations, and plenty of homes in South Wales have had one at some point. If you are weighing up a new Baxi, these are the practical points to think through.

The Baxi range

Baxi's current boilers are grouped in numbered series, such as the 200, 600 and 800, with combi, system and heat-only versions in several outputs. The Baxi 800 combi is a compact model that fits inside many standard kitchen wall cupboards. Ranges change over time, so check Baxi's own website for the latest line-up.

Is the Baxi 800 combi right for you?

A compact combi suits homes where one shower or tap is used at a time and space is tight. Larger households, or homes with two bathrooms used together, may be better served by a higher output or a system boiler with a cylinder.

If you are unsure which type you need, our boiler installation page explains combi, system and regular boilers in plain terms.

Fitting a boiler into a cupboard

  • Measure the cupboard and check the manufacturer's clearances for servicing
  • Check the flue can exit through the wall behind or above it
  • Allow for the condensate pipe and a route to the drain
  • Keep access to the pressure gauge and controls

Warranties and installer networks

Like other manufacturers, Baxi offers warranties whose length can depend on the model, who installs it and registration. Read Baxi's current terms if extended cover is important. Whatever brand you choose, the installer must be Gas Safe registered and the boiler should be serviced every year, which you can book through our boiler servicing page.

What affects the price

The model is only part of the total. Flue changes, controls, a system clean, filter and any pipework alterations all add up. Our new boiler cost guide explains each factor. For a price for your home, use the new boiler quote page or call 07429 632804.

Living with a Baxi day to day

Once it is in, a Baxi boiler asks little of you. Glance at the pressure gauge now and then; on most sealed systems it should sit around 1 to 1.5 bar when cold. If it drops, our guide to repressurising a boiler shows how to top it up safely. Keep the area around the flue outside clear of plants and sheds, and make sure the condensate pipe is not blocked by leaves or ice in winter. If the display shows a fault code you do not recognise, note it down before you ring, as it helps Chris narrow the problem quickly.

Common questions

Baxi Boiler Installation FAQs

Clear answers before you arrange a visit.

Can a Baxi boiler fit inside a kitchen cupboard?+

Many compact models are designed to, but the exact cupboard, clearances and flue route need checking before you choose.

Does Baxi make system boilers as well as combis?+

Yes. Baxi has combi, system and heat-only boilers, so the right one depends on how your home uses hot water.

Is my old Baxi worth repairing instead?+

It depends on its age, condition and parts availability. Chris can look at it and tell you honestly whether a repair or replacement makes more sense.

What controls can I use with a Baxi boiler?+

Baxi has its own controls and many boilers also work with other compatible thermostats. Chris will explain the options when he quotes.
