Baxi Boiler Repair and Servicing

Baxi boilers have been in British homes for generations, so we meet plenty of them, from modern combis to old back boilers behind gas fires. Here is what to know when yours needs a service or a repair.

Baxi fault codes

Modern Baxi boilers show a code on the display when they lock out. The manual lists what each means. Note the code, check the pressure gauge and try one reset. If the code returns, book a repair rather than resetting again and again.

Common Baxi repairs

  • Low pressure and leaking pressure relief valves
  • Diverter valve faults giving heating but no hot water
  • Fan and ignition faults
  • Blocked condensate traps

Baxi back boilers

Many older homes still have a Baxi back boiler behind the living room fire. These can still be serviced, with the fire and boiler both checked, as they often share the chimney. If parts are becoming hard to find, our back boiler replacement page explains the options.

Servicing a Baxi

A yearly service checks combustion, the flue, seals and safety devices, and is usually a condition of the manufacturer's warranty. See our boiler servicing page for details.

Repair or replace?

If a Baxi is old and the part it needs is costly or scarce, Chris will say so. If you decide to replace it, our Baxi boiler installation page covers what to consider.

Low pressure on a Baxi

A Baxi that keeps losing pressure usually has a leak somewhere on the system, a weeping pressure relief valve or an expansion vessel that has lost its charge. Topping up is fine once, but if you are doing it every week, something needs fixing. Our boiler losing pressure guide explains how to narrow it down.

Older Baxi combis

Earlier Baxi combis are still common, and many can be kept going with the right parts. Chris will check whether the parts your model needs are still available before recommending a repair, so you do not pay for a fix that cannot be completed.

Living with a Baxi between services

Glance at the pressure gauge now and then, keep the flue terminal outside clear of plants and sheds, and make sure the area around the boiler is not used for storage. Small habits like these help the boiler run reliably and make the yearly service quicker.

How a Baxi repair visit runs

Chris starts with the fault code and what you have noticed, checks the pressure and controls, then tests the parts most likely to be at fault. He explains what he finds and what the repair involves before any part is fitted, so you decide with the full picture.

Baxi pressure relief valves

On Baxi combis, a pressure relief valve that has opened once can sometimes fail to reseal fully, letting water drip from the copper pipe outside. If you see that pipe dripping, or the pressure keeps falling after a top-up, mention it when you book, as it helps narrow the fault before the visit.

Book a service or repair

If your Baxi needs attention, call or WhatsApp 07429 632804 with the model name from the front panel and any code on the display, or use the quote form. If you are worried about a Baxi that is losing pressure, our boiler repairs page explains how Chris approaches leaks and valve faults.

Common questions

Baxi Boiler Service and Repair FAQs

Clear answers before you arrange a visit.

Can you service a Baxi back boiler?+

Yes, as long as it is safe to work on. Chris checks both the boiler and the fire.

My Baxi shows a fault code. What should I do?+

Note the code, check the pressure and try one reset. If it returns, book a repair.

Are you a Baxi approved engineer?+

We are Gas Safe registered and work on Baxi boilers, but we do not claim any manufacturer approval.

Can old Baxi parts still be found?+

For many models, yes. For very old ones it gets harder, and Chris will tell you if that affects the repair.
