Ideal Boiler Installation

Ideal Heating, based in Hull, makes the Logic family of boilers that you will find in many British homes. If an Ideal boiler is on your list, here is a plain guide to the range and the installation.

Logic, Logic Max and Vogue

The Ideal Logic range covers combi, system and heat-only boilers at the everyday end of the market. Logic Max models add features and, in some cases, longer warranty terms depending on the installer. The Vogue range sits above them. Names and specifications change, so it is worth checking Ideal's website for current models.

Choosing an Ideal Logic combi

The Logic combi comes in several outputs. The higher the output, the faster it can heat water for a shower, which matters more in a busy house than a quiet one. Pick an output that matches your hot water use rather than the biggest number on offer.

If two showers run at the same time in your home, a combi of any brand may struggle. A system boiler with a cylinder could be the better fit.

Installer schemes and warranties

Ideal runs its own installer programme, and the warranty you get can vary with the model and the installer. If you want the longest cover, check Ideal's current terms and ask whoever quotes whether they qualify. Annual servicing by a Gas Safe registered engineer is normally a condition of any warranty.

Installation steps

  • A survey of the existing boiler, flue, gas pipe and radiators
  • Draining down and removing the old boiler
  • Cleaning the system and fitting a filter
  • Fitting, commissioning and registering the new boiler
  • Walking you through the controls

Looking after an Ideal boiler

Most problems with any boiler come from the system around it rather than the boiler itself. Sludge in old radiators, low pressure and blocked condensate pipes cause many call-outs. Keeping the filter cleaned at each service, topping up pressure when needed and lagging the outside part of the condensate pipe all help. If your heating starts making odd sounds, our guide to a boiler making noise explains the usual causes. And if the boiler locks out, check the display code and the pressure before you call, so the conversation starts with useful facts.

Common questions

Ideal Boiler Installation FAQs

Clear answers before you arrange a visit.

What is the difference between Ideal Logic and Logic Max?+

Logic Max models build on the standard Logic range with extra features and, depending on the installer, different warranty terms. Check Ideal's site for current details.

Which output Ideal Logic combi do I need?+

It depends on how much hot water you use at once and your mains flow. Chris will measure and recommend an output on the survey.

Is an Ideal Max installer the same as Gas Safe?+

No. Gas Safe registration is the legal requirement for gas work; manufacturer installer schemes are separate and optional.

Can an Ideal boiler replace a different brand on the same flue?+

Usually the flue is replaced with the new boiler's own kit, as flues are made for specific boilers.
