An honest answer, not a promise
Bridgend is at the eastern end of the area we cover from Briton Ferry, and we would rather be truthful about that than quote an arrival time we might miss. Phone 07429 632804, describe what is happening, and Chris will tell you honestly whether and when he can attend. If he cannot, you will know straight away and can ring someone else. Our hours are Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm and Saturday 8am to 6pm.
Old terraces, new estates, different failures
Bridgend has two very different housing stocks, and they go wrong in different ways. In the older streets around the town centre and in Pencoed, the usual culprits are tired copper joints, lead sections nobody replaced, or an old back boiler finally giving out.
On the newer estates around Brackla, Broadlands and North Cornelly, emergencies tend to involve plastic push-fit fittings that have slipped, a washing machine hose that has split, or a condensate pipe frozen solid in a cold snap.
The first five minutes
Find the stop tap and turn it clockwise to shut off the mains
Open the cold taps to drain what is left in the pipes
Switch off the boiler and immersion if the leak is near them
Keep water away from sockets and the consumer unit

Is it really an emergency?
Water you cannot stop, a ceiling bulging with water, or no heating in freezing weather with someone vulnerable at home: yes. A dripping tap, a slow-draining basin or a toilet that runs on: usually not, and those are better booked as a planned visit through the quote form.
When it is the boiler that has stopped
Note the fault code, check the pressure gauge, and in winter look at the white plastic condensate pipe outside for ice. The emergency boiler repair page walks through each safe check, and the boiler repair in Bridgend page covers the planned repair side.
After the emergency
Once things are safe, it is worth fixing whatever caused it properly — a seized stop tap, a corroded section of pipe, an ageing boiler. Those are planned jobs we book across Bridgend. See plumber in Bridgend and burst pipe repair.
Common questions
Emergency Plumbing FAQs
Clear answers before you arrange a visit.
Will you definitely come out to Bridgend?+
Chris will tell you honestly on the phone whether and when he can attend. We do not promise arrival times we cannot keep.
Water is coming through my ceiling — what now?+
Shut the stop tap, keep clear of light fittings and switches below the leak, and if water is near electrics turn the power off at the consumer unit. Then ring.
My new-build boiler stopped in a frost — why?+
A frozen condensate pipe is a common cause on newer homes. Thawing it with warm, not boiling, water and resetting the boiler often fixes it.
Do you cover Brackla and North Cornelly?+
Yes — the town and the communities around it are within the area we travel to.
